Tampa Becoming Home to New VA Primary Care Clinic
With over 87,000 veterans in the Central Florida area a new main care facility may be just what the doctor ordered. According to the American Legion, Duke Realty has received a contract, from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to develop a 106,000 square-foot, 2-story clinic at Hidden River Corporate Park in Tampa, FL.
The new facility will expand on services currently supplied by the James A. Haley VA Medical Center and hopefully help ease the burden on their medical staff. Tampa’s veterans who reside in the counties of Polk, Pasco, Hillsborough, and Hernando hope to benefit from increased access to VA services when the facility is completed in the year 2014.
Access to proper health care is important for all veterans, but even more so for those dealing with disabilities, from service-related conditions. This is because when a veteran seeks to apply for disability benefits they typically must go through a VA hospital or clinic to establish a disability rating evaluation. Having a local facility to attend that is well equipped is beneficial to both veterans and their families as it helps ease the burden when treatment and assessment is necessary.
