That Cup of Joe May Decrease Your Risk of Prostate Cancer
If cancer has left you unable to work and permanently disabled, you may be able to receive Social Security disability benefits.
According to a report from CNN Health, a new study shows a person’s risk of developing fatal prostate cancer may be reduced with coffee. The findings indicate that it could be lowered by as much as 60% in men who drink 6 cups or more each day.
This study also found that it didn’t matter if the coffee was caffeinated or not, both provided the same prostate health benefits.
Some of the specific effects found in coffee include:
- influences levels of testosterone and other sex hormones;
- valuable source of antioxidants;
- affects glucose metabolism positively; and
- helps insulin levels.
All of these play a role in prostate cancer’s progression. The biological effects of coffee seem to address them.
Prostate cancer health is not the only benefit in coffee consumption. Other studies have shown it can reduce the risk of liver cancer, Parkinson’s disease, type 2 diabetes and other medical conditions.
A recent study found that women who drink at least 5 cups of coffee each day had a decreased risk of aggressive breast cancer.
While smaller studies have been done in the past with the effects of coffee on prostate health, this latest one comprised of 48,000 men.
